Scott Boylston is a professor of graphic design at the Savannah College of Art and Design where he teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in poster design, advanced typography, portfolio design, social awareness, publication design, package design, and other topics. He is the author and designer of "Creative Solutions for Unusual Projects", a Book-of-the-Month for the Graphic Design Book Club, which was also translated for Chinese publication. He has written and designed the poetry chapbook "Corrosion: Season of Anecdote", an exploration of environmental degradation around the globe. His design book on sustainable package design, "The Complete Package" was published in 2007. Short stories written by Boylston have been published in Convergence, DoubleTake, Midnight Mind, The Missouri Review, The Nebraska Review, New Letters, Shenandoah, The Tampa Review, The Windsor Review, and two anthologies. He received the New Voice Fiction Award and the Nantucket Writing Award in Fiction, and was nominated for a Pushcart Prize. His poster designs have been featured in group shows around the country, and he continues to lecture widely on topics addressing social and ethical aspects of graphic design. He continues to engage in both freelance and pro-bono design projects, and has acted as coordinator for the Georgia Poetry Circuit for four consecutive years, and co-director for the adult portion of the Savannah Literary Festival. Before moving to Savannah, Boylston was as an art director in New York City, designing packaging for cosmetics companies such as Elizabeth Arden, Estée Lauder, Opium, L’Oreal and Yves Saint Laurent. He has owned his own environmentally focused surf wear company, where he illustrated the entire product line with block prints and computer graphics. He received his undergraduate degree at the State University of New York at New Paltz, and his graduate degree from Pratt Institute.
